Local Whole BBQed Trout

When our friend, who is an avid fisherman, offered us this beautiful local trout from Lake Huron, we jumped for joy! Then, we stuffed it with lemon, dill, and onion and BBQed it.

Today, people are catching wind of the importance of Omega-3 fats found in oily fish like salmon. But, most fish available at the grocery store is farmed. Farmed salmon is fed an unnatural, grain-based diet. The food pellets include orange food dye that changes the salmon’s flesh from a gross grey to the orange we expect. (Wild salmon have orange flesh because they eat orange krill.) Fish farms also have disastrous environmental impact. Here’s some more information on why you should avoid farmed salmon from the David Suzuki Foundation.
